The Opening Ceremony of RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Tianjin Invitational Tournament 2021 was held in the morning of May 21, 2021 at the Tianjin Airport Sports Center.
Prof. Liu Li of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University in her capacity of General Chair and Prof. Wang Jiadao, Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University presided over the Opening Ceremony.
Ms Ma Yue, Assistant Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University served as Master of Ceremonies.
Prof. Changjiu Zhou (President of RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Confederation), Prof. Manuela Veloso (Founding Trustee & Former President of RoboCup Federation), Prof. Minoru Asada (Founding Trustee & Former President of RoboCup Federation) and Prof. Fernando Ribero (Vice-President of RoboCup Federation & Member of the RCAP Advisory Board) delivered their welcome speech via video.
In RoboCup’s 25 years history, this is the first official RoboCup International event held in an onsite – virtual hybrid format.
Future RCAP satellite events will be modeled after RCAP Tianjin Invitational 2021 and participants from all over the world, no matter where they are physically located, will be able to participate in RCAP events simultaneously in an onsite – virtual hybrid format.
VIPs & Guests from Tianjin Municipal Government, Academia and Industry as well as participants were present at the Opening Ceremony.
